- Gaspare Tagliacozzi* - Italy, 1597
Modern plastic surgery is a specialty that focuses on the repair
of physical defects and the restoration of cosmetic deficiencies
resulting from birth defects, trauma, cancers, and aging. The two
core components of plastic surgery, namely, the cosmetic and the
reconstructive, are seemingly distinct and separate in the eyes
of the casual observer. However, cosmetic and reconscructive plastic
surgery share identical anatomic and physiologic principles. They
overlap and compliment each other seamlessly in achieving the goals
articulated by Tagliacozzi some four hundred years ago. Plastic
surgery truly unifies the art and science of medicine; plastic surgery
can restore the body and mend the spirit of the patient. As a plastic
surgeon, Dr. Eng maintains his proficiency and skill in both of
these venues through continued medical education and active clinical
practice.
Dr. Eng serves his patients as physician and advocate. As the physician,
Dr. Eng informs his patients of the most up-to-date plastic surgical
trends, developments and treatment alternatives available for
the type of surgery that requested. As the patient's advocate, Dr.
Eng assists his patients in selecting the safest and the most effective
treatment modalities to meet the patient's personal needs. Dr. Eng
does his very best to listen, consult, advise, analyze, and executive
all phases of your surgery carefully, thoroughly and expeditiously.
Finally, Dr. Eng believes that plastic surgery can and should
be affordable to the general public. Dr. Eng attempts to avoid unnecessary
frills and tailor his fees and other expenses with this concept
in mind.
What defines a cosmetic surgeon?
Dr. Eng believes that cosmetic surgery is an integral part of
plastic and reconstructive surgery – Cosmetic surgery is designed
to surgically reconstruct a portion or portions of the human body
that have changed or are perceived as undesirable because of aging.
Honed by years of practice, Dr. Eng excelled in Chinese calligraphy,
a form of artistic expression buffered by delicate and refined manual
dexterity. Dr. Eng's 20 plus years of medical experience and of
staying current and proficient in reconstructive surgery has allowed
him to visit the human body in all clinical settings and
at all levels of complexity. Dr. Eng brings to his patients
a professional and experienced knowledge of human anatomy and wound
healing, an eye for aesthetics, a willingness to embrace innovation
and new techniques, and a well honed manual dexterity. These characteristics
serve the patient well in cosmetic surgery.
